Best cortado in the county. The maple syrup is from right down the road and you can taste it. Staff remembered my order on my third visit.
Dana and Walt Pruett bought the old Hadley feed store in 2013, mostly because it was cheap and had good light. The floors were soft in places and there was a family of raccoons in the loft. It took a year of weekends to make it a place you'd want to sit.
Walt had been roasting coffee in a popcorn popper in their garage for years. When a roaster in Vermont retired, he drove up with a borrowed trailer and brought home a 5-kilo drum roaster. It still sits in the front window, and it still runs every Tuesday.
Dana handles the baking. The pie recipes are her grandmother's, adjusted over the years by whoever's working the morning shift. The cider donut recipe was traded to us by the orchard down the road in exchange for a year of free coffee.
We're not trying to be anything fancy. We want the coffee to be good, the food to be honest, and the room to be warm. If you've been coming in, thank you. If you haven't yet, we'll keep a seat by the stove.
